La amenorrea es la ausencia del flujo menstrual y puede ocurrir normalmente o ser una señal de mal funcionamiento o enfermedad. En la amenorrea primaria, la menstruación no inicia cuando se la espera (máximo a los 16 años). En la amenorrea secundaria, el ciclo menstrual normal y establecido se interrumpe por 6 meses o más debido a una condición distinta al embarazo, la lactancia o la menopausia.
