Riesgos:

Las venas y las arterias varían en tamaño de un paciente a otro y de un lado del cuerpo a otro, razón por la cual extraer un muestra de sangre de algunas personas puede ser más difícil que de otras.

Otros riesgos pueden abarcar:

Sangrado excesivo.
Desmayo o sensación de mareo.
Hematoma (acumulación de sangre bajo la piel).
Infección (riesgo leve siempre que se presenta ruptura de la piel).

Consideraciones:

El médico puede sugerir un examen de corticotropina si el nivel de 17-OH progesterona está entre 200 y 800 ng/dL.
