Colocación de una sonda endotraqueal

Definición:

Una intubación endotraqueal es un procedimiento médico en el cual se coloca una cánula o sonda en la tráquea. Esto se hace para abrir la vía respiratoria con el fin de suministrarle a la persona oxígeno, medicamentos o anestesia.

Después de una intubación, la persona probablemente sea conectada a una máquina llamada respirador que le brindará respiración mientras la sonda esté colocada.

La intubación endotraqueal también se puede hacer para eliminar obstrucciones o para visualizar las paredes interiores.
