Mamelón o papiloma auricular

Definición:

Un papiloma de la oreja (preauricular) es un pequeño papiloma cutáneo o fosita (hoyuelo) en la piel en frente de la parte externa del oído.

Consideraciones generales:

Las fositas y papilomas cutáneos justo al frente de la abertura de la parte externa del oído se observan con frecuencia en bebés recién nacidos.

En la mayoría de los casos, son normales; sin embargo, tanto las fositas como los papilomas preauriculares pueden estar asociados con otros problemas. Es importante comentarle al pediatra sobre dichos papilomas y fositas en la piel durante el examen rutinario de control del niño sano.

Causas comunes:

  • Una tendencia hereditaria a tener este rasgo facial
  • Un síndrome genético que tenga fositas y papilomas preauriculares como una de sus características
  • Un problema del tracto sinusal (una conexión anormal entre la piel y el tejido que se encuentra por debajo)
