Postura de decorticación - Información general

Definición:

Es una postura anormal que implica rigidez, flexión de los brazos, puños cerrados y piernas extendidas. La persona sostiene los brazos doblados hacia adentro y hacia el cuerpo con las muñecas y los dedos doblados y puestos sobre el tórax. Este tipo de postura implica un daño severo en el cerebro con necesidad inmediata de atención médica.

Consideraciones generales:

La postura de decorticación es un indicio de daño al fascículo corticoespinal, la comunicación entre el cerebro y la médula espinal. Aunque es un signo grave, generalmente es más favorable que la postura de descerebración.

La postura de decorticación puede avanzar a postura de descerebración o las dos pueden alternarse. Es posible que se presente en uno o en ambos lados del cuerpo.
