Púrpura - Información general

Manchas de sangre; Hemorragias cutáneas

Definición:

Es la presencia de parches y manchas purpurinas en la piel, órganos y en las membranas mucosas, incluyendo el revestimiento de la boca.

Consideraciones generales:

La púrpura ocurre cuando hay filtración de pequeños vasos sanguíneos bajo la piel.

Cuando las manchas de púrpura son muy pequeñas, se las denomina petequias y, cuando son grandes, equimosis.

Una persona con púrpura puede tener conteo de plaquetas normal (púrpuras no trombocitopénicas) o disminución en el conteo de plaquetas (púrpuras trombocitopénicas). Las plaquetas ayudan a la coagulación de la sangre.
