Definici贸n:

Es la presencia frecuente de heces blandas y acuosas que ocurre despu茅s de visitar 谩reas con suministros de agua contaminada, sistemas de alcantarillado deficientes o manejo inadecuado de los alimentos. Los destinos de mayor riesgo abarcan los pa铆ses del tercer mundo o en desarrollo, como Latinoam茅rica, 脕frica, Medio oriente y Asia.

Este art铆culo aborda el tema de los alimentos y l铆quidos que se deben consumir en caso de presentar diarrea del viajero.

Funciones:

Las bacterias y las toxinas que se encuentran en el agua y el suministro de alimentos causan la diarrea del viajero. (Las personas que habitan estas 谩reas por lo general no se enferman porque sus cuerpos han desarrollado cierto grado de inmunidad).

Se puede disminuir el riesgo de desarrollar la diarrea del viajero evitando el consumo de agua y alimentos que puedan estar contaminados. El objetivo de la dieta para la diarrea del viajero es disminuir el impacto de esta enfermedad y prevenir la deshidrataci贸n grave.
