Efectos secundarios:

La falta (deficiencia) de fluoruro puede llevar a un aumento de las caries dentales y a huesos y dientes débiles.

El exceso de fluoruro en la dieta es muy poco frecuente. En raras ocasiones, los lactantes que obtienen demasiado fluoruro antes de que los dientes hayan salido a través de las encías tienen cambios en el esmalte que cubre los dientes. Pueden aparecer líneas o vetas blancas y tenues, pero generalmente no son fáciles de ver.
