Efectos secundarios:

La deficiencia de cromo se puede observar como un deterioro de la tolerancia a la glucosa. Se observa en los ancianos con diabetes tipo 2 y en los bebés con desnutrición proteico-calórica. El suplemento de cromo ayuda al manejo de estas afecciones, pero no es un sustituto de otros tratamientos.

Debido a la baja absorción y a la alta tasa de excreción de cromo, su toxicidad no es común.
