La deficiencia de riboflavina no es común en los Estados Unidos debido a que esta vitamina es abundante en el suministro de alimentos. Los síntomas de una deficiencia grave abarcan:

  • Anemia.
  • Úlceras bucales o labiales.
  • Trastornos de la piel.
  • Dolor de garganta.
  • Inflamación de las membranas mucosas.

No se conoce toxicidad de la riboflavina. Dado que es una vitamina hidrosoluble, las cantidades sobrantes salen fácilmente del cuerpo a través de la orina.
