Definición:

Es una vitamina liposoluble. Las vitaminas liposolubles se almacenan en el tejido graso del cuerpo.

Funciones:

La vitamina D ayuda al cuerpo a absorber el calcio. El calcio y el fósforo son dos minerales esenciales para la formación normal de los huesos.

Durante toda la niñez, el cuerpo utiliza estos minerales para producir huesos. Si usted no obtiene suficiente calcio o si el cuerpo no absorbe el calcio suficiente de la dieta, la producción de hueso y los tejidos óseos pueden sufrir.

La deficiencia de vitamina D puede llevar a osteoporosis en adultos o raquitismo en niños.
