Definición:

Es un cáncer de las glándulas suprarrenales.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Un carcinoma corticosuprarrenal es más común en niños menores de 5 años de edad y en adultos entre los 30 y los 40 años.

El carcinoma corticosuprarrenal puede estar asociado con un síndrome de cáncer que se transmite de padres a hijos (hereditario). Tanto los hombres como las mujeres pueden desarrollar este tipo de tumor y en estas últimas el tumor con frecuencia libera hormonas. Este carcinoma puede producir las hormonas cortisol y aldosterona.

La causa se desconoce y aproximadamente 2 personas por cada millón desarrollan este tipo de tumor.
