Definici贸n:

Es una enfermedad que provoca la acumulaci贸n de l铆quido por debajo de la retina. El l铆quido se filtra desde la coroides (capa de vasos sangu铆neos que se encuentra por debajo de la retina). La retina es la capa de nervios que recubre la pared interna de la parte posterior del ojo. 脡sta recibe la informaci贸n visual de lo que uno ve y la transmite al cerebro.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La causa de esta condici贸n se desconoce. La mayor铆a de los pacientes son hombres adultos j贸venes con personalidades agresivas "tipo A", aunque puede afectar a cualquier individuo.

El estr茅s parece ser un factor de riesgo en la coroidopat铆a serosa central y dicha enfermedad tambi茅n puede ocurrir como complicaci贸n del uso de medicamentos esteroides.
