Faringitis viral - Información general

Definición:

La faringitis viral es una inflamación de la faringe (la parte de la garganta situada entre las amígdalas y la laringe) causada por un virus y produce dolor de garganta.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La faringitis es causada con mayor frecuencia por una infección viral, pero también puede ser provocada por una infección bacteriana. La faringitis viral es la causa más común de un dolor de garganta.

Cuando los cultivos de la garganta no revelan una causa bacteriana de los síntomas, se sospecha de una faringitis viral. Ambas enfermedades son extremadamente comunes.

La faringitis puede ocurrir como parte de una infección viral que también compromete otros sistemas de órganos, como los pulmones o el intestino.
