Afibrinogenemia congénita - Overview

Definición:

Es un raro trastorno hemorrágico hereditario en el cual la sangre no coagula normalmente. Este trastorno ocurre cuando hay una falta (deficiencia) completa de una proteína llamada fibrinógeno, la cual es necesaria para que la sangre coagule.

Causas:

Esta rara enfermedad es causada por un gen anormal que tiene que ser transmitido por ambos padres. La enfermedad causa una deficiencia grave de fibrinógeno.

Las formas más leves pueden ocurrir en personas que hereden sólo un gen anormal de sus padres. (La disfibrinogemia, en la cual hay un defecto en el funcionamiento del fibrinógeno, es una afección diferente).

La afibrinogemia congénita puede ocurrir en hombres y mujeres y el principal factor de riesgo lo constituye un antecedente familiar de trastornos hemorrágicos.
