Rinofima - Información general

Nariz bulbosa; Rosácea fimatosa

Definición:

Es una nariz grande, bulbosa y de color rojo (rojiza).

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Alguna vez se pensó que la rinofima era causada por el consumo excesivo de alcohol, pero esto no es cierto. La rinofima ocurre igual en personas que no beben en absoluto y en las que consumen grandes cantidades de alcohol y es una afección mucho más común en hombres que en mujeres.

La causa de la rinofima se desconoce, aunque por lo general se considera como una forma severa de rosácea. Es un trastorno relativamente raro que consiste en el engrosamiento de la piel de la nariz y la presencia de muchas glándulas sebáceas. La nariz toma una apariencia similar a un bulbo (bulbosa).
