Abstinencia del consumo de nicotina

Definición:

La abstinencia de nicotina implica síntomas como irritabilidad, dolor de cabeza y deseo vehemente por fumar que se presentan con la cesación o la interrupción repentina del consumo de cigarrillo (u otros usos del tabaco) por parte de un individuo adicto a la nicotina. Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

Casi todas las personas que intentan abandonar el hábito de fumar presentan alguna forma del síndrome de abstinencia de nicotina y, generalmente, las persona que hayan fumado por más tiempo o mayor cantidad de cigarrillos tienen son más propensos a presentar síntomas de abstinencia. La severidad de los síntomas también depende del tiempo fumando y del número de cigarrillos consumidos.

Las personas que son fumadoras regulares tienden a tener deseos vehementes particularmente fuertes y empeoramiento de los síntomas de abstinencia en ciertos momentos, lugares y situaciones asociados con el hábito de fumar.
