Ectima - Información general

Definición:

Es una infección de la piel similar al impétigo que, a menudo, se denomina "impétigo profundo" porque ocurre en lo profundo de la piel.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

El ectima a menudo es causado por la bacteria estreptococo. Algunas veces, la bacteria estafilococo también puede causar esta infección cutánea.

La infección puede empezar en la piel que ha resultado lesionada debido a una raspadura o picadura de un insecto y con frecuencia se desarrolla en las piernas.

La infección primero puede aparecer con una ampolla llena de pus, similar a la que se observa en personas con impétigo. Sin embargo, la infección se disemina mucho más profundo dentro de la piel.
