Definición:

Es un tumor cutáneo precanceroso generalmente causado por la exposición al sol.

Causas, incidencia y factores de riesgo:

La queratosis actínica se presenta con más frecuencia en la piel blanca, especialmente en personas de edad avanzada y en jóvenes con un color de piel claro. Los tumores se presentan en áreas de la piel que se han expuesto al sol y empiezan como un aspecto plano escamoso, que luego se desarrolla hasta formar una superficie dura de apariencia verrugosa.

Las queratosis actínicas se clasifican como tumores precancerosos y cuando no se tratan, aproximadamente el 1% de ellas se convierte en carcinomas escamocelulares.
