Definition of Osmotic diuresis:

Osmotic diuresis is increased urination caused by the presence of certain substances in the small tubes of the kidneys.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors:

High blood sugar (glucose) can cause osmotic diuresis, as can medications such as Mannitol.
