Biography:
Bertrand Janne d'Othee, MD, MPH, FSIR, FCIRSE, is Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Janne d'Othee completed his medical school and residency training in his native Belgium and migrated to France for fellowship training and staff position in academic centers with busy Interventional Radiology (IR) activity in peripheral arterial/vascular disease and stent-grafts. In 2001, he joined the faculty in the Department of Radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston for six years. There, in addition to the IR activity and diagnostic radiology duties, he launched and assumed the leadership of the varicose vein program, one of the first in Massachusetts. He attracted and treated several hundreds of patients, many of them coming from other states or networks. Dr. Janne d'Othee went on to join the Division of Cardiovascular Imaging and Intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital where, in addition to leading the varicose veins and uterine fibroid embolization program, he developed his interest in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular anomalies (such as arteriovenous, venous, capillary, and lymphatic malformations and hemangiomas) and was in charge of the non-invasive vascular imaging lab.
His interests in clinical research and health outcomes assessment led him to obtain a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2007. He has authored or co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed articles and 60 abstracts. He is a Fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) in the USA and of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Society of Europe (CIRSE). As a member of multiple other medical/scientific societies, he has participated actively in developing national reporting standards and quality improvement guidelines, grading grant applications, reviewing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, and moderating sessions at national/international meetings.
Dr. Janne d'Othee's clinical interests include the full spectrum of vascular and interventional radiology therapies, with particular focus on image-guided treatment of vascular malformations and hemangiomas, cancer, varicose veins, portal hypertension and liver disease. He is board-certified in Radiology both in the USA and in Europe. He speaks French and Spanish fluently.
