Department of Anesthesiology

The Department of Anesthesiology provides clinical anesthesia services and critical care management of surgical and obstetric patients throughout the University of Maryland Medical Center 24 hours a day.

The department offers post-surgical pain control services and manages patients with chronic and acute pain.

• Intraoperative electrophysiologic monitoring, including EEG, sensory and motor evoked potentials, EMG
• Acute pain management, including patient controlled analgesia, continuous epidural infusion, and other procedures as necessary
• Chronic pain management, including interdisciplinary evaluation, diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks, epidural steroids, transcutaneous nerve stimulation, and implantable pumps
